Payroll Testing – Hints and Tips

Some key elements to check when testing Payroll. This is not a definitive list but a handy checklist to see that you are on the right track.

• Check with business to make sure all the external Pay element loads are completed

• Check/Validate Pension automatic enrolment

• Make sure the period is open for Payroll processing

• Check the Gateway connectivity to HMRC for RTI and pre-payroll processing processes

• Analyse the exceptions from the retroactive report

• Complete all the statutory absence evaluation processes

• Check and validate figures in the Costing/GTN and other reports

• Check and validate P45 process

• Check and validate the RTI HMRC submissions in the test mode.
